Opposition Alliance Forms Joint Parliamentary Group... 17 MPS belonging to parties in the MDP Jumhooree Alliance have formed a joint parliamentary group to counterbalance the majority held by the government’s Dhivehi Raiyyithunge Party (DRP), they announced at a Wednesday press briefing. The Alliance was formed last week to back Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential candidate Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) in the second round of presidential elections.
